Capsulation Capsules are a commonly used dosage form in the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industry. Formulations for filling into capsules need only small amounts of excipients to ensure a good powder flow into the capsules. Both hard shell gelatin and vegetarian capsules, in several sizes- from 4 up to double zero-, can be handled at Wolfs on our fully automated equipment.

Hard capsules are a widespread form of pharmaceutical or food supplement administration. As advantage, it offers a neutral taste, a safety to apply and mostly a lower need of excipients. Hard capsules consist out of pure gelatin (animal source) or cellulose (plant source). The empty capsules are opened by the capsulation machine, filled with the powder or granulate and finally sealed. For product identification or marketing purposes, multiple colors are available.
