Coating Coatings can be applied on both capsules as tablets for several reasons: tastemasking,patient comfort, improving visual aspect, protection of active ingredients against moisture and temperature, delayed release of active ingredients, … The above effects can be obtained by three methods all available at Wolfs: film-, enteric- and sugarcoating. Based upon customers’ requests, synthetic or natural coating ingredients can be used.

As Wolfs has a lab-scale coater, we are able to test and develop the most ideal coating suited for the product in a rapid and cost efficient manner, before applying the coating process on full production scale.

An enteric coating is a barrier applied on tablets or capsules to prevent its dissolution or disintegration in the gastric environment.This type of coating is hence also an effective method to obtain drug or supplement targeting

Non functional coatings

Functional coatings

Functional coatings contribute to a specific product characteristic:

  • as a moisture barrier to improve the product shelflife
  • as an isolations of reactive ingredients (vitamins e.g.)
  • enteric coatings: prevents its dissolution or desintegration in the gastric environment
